God's Heart

I check my bag for the third time to make sure it hadn’t jumped out. The disbelief that I needed my passport to get to work made me grin. God’s goodness washed over me and tears began to flow. How could I be so blessed, so privileged to be heading in to Tijuana.

This day was six years in the making or maybe even 56 years really. I had met Cindy through her partnership with the church I attend. Naturally, Javier and I wanted to help with any joint events with Grace of Calvary Ministries in Tijuana. If you know us, you know that service and sharing God’s story is what we do for fun. However, as for any deeper involvement, we declined.

But God started stirring something in our hearts, Javier refers to it as a “holy dissatisfaction.” This is the knowledge that we are being called on to do something, and we will be uncomfortable until we respond. Little by little it became clear that it was Tijuana (a story for a later post). We checked and rechecked that this was indeed what we should do. My last request for confirmation was, “God give me your heart for this place.”

Soon after, I was sitting in staff devotions and our pastor was speaking on the woman at the well. To be honest, I was a little distracted (sorry, Ryan). I looked up and on the screen was John 4:35 “…I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” I couldn’t hold back the tears, they just spilled out. I saw the city of Tijuana and my heart opened to let it all in. He was giving me His heart for this place and I said yes!

Praise God that HE has given you a heart to listen and obey! HE has gifted you with many gifts. Praying that HE will give you the wisdom and guidance as you move forward toward HIS calling! How exciting! 💕
